STENOMYLUS

HABITAT

Adaptations in the skull, torso and limbs suggest Stenomylus preferred arid rangeland environments, much like the American pronghorn.

DIET

The high-crowned hypsodont molars of Stenomylus hint towards an adaptable diet. Microwear studies of its teeth bear the closest resemblance to modern gerenuk & impala.

BEHAVIOR

Being so gracile, Stenomylus lived in large herds, wary of potential predators. During dire times, these camelids may have fed from the scraps of larger herbivores like Moropus
